1850 Rathburn Road East, Mississauga, ON
The Association was started in August 2015 after a major power failure at 4100 Ponytrail Drive.
Our power was out for 30 hours, there was one notice from management that they were looking into the situation. From that Saturday afternoon at 2:15 August 1 to Monday August 3 in the early afternoon, we had no lights, hot water, refridgeration, means of cooking, or air conditioning during a heat wave. Tenants were literally left in the dark, management's lack of communication was terrible. The elevators were running intermittantly and breaking down with people being trapped until someone rescued them.
A few concerned tenants decided to take action, held a tenant meeting and decided to form the Association to address this and may other issues in both buildings.
It is time, once again, to take action!

2025 - the owner went the the Committee of Adjustment at the City regarding their request to build a 25 storey rental tower instead of the 2 condo buildings previously approved. This project is subject to NAV Canada review and so far we have not been advised if they approved. As we are in the flight path of the airport there are several restrictions for high rise development.
2026 - The owner has now applied to add an additional three 20 storey towers which would mean a total of 4 new towers in addition to the two existing.

The tenant association has been working with the Rockwood Residents Associations to oppose this development for several reasons. If approved, the combined development could:
add 980 additional rental units and over 2, 000 residents to the property
Remove much of the property’s existing green space
Turn our community into a construction site for many years
Increase traffic, noise and disruption
Leave little or no new outdoor amenity space for existing tenants
We are not opposed to new rentals , there is a severe shortage of affordable housing. Will these units be affordable? The proposed development on this property is completely out of character for this community, this is not a transit node as there is no mass transit nearby.

On July 28 four members of the Rockwood Residents Association and the Tenant Association met at Cily Hall with Councillor Fonseca, her staff, and 3 members of the planning department to submit a presentation of our objections to this project. We requested that they look at the combined 6 tower site as a whole entity and it's impact on the local community. This type of high density project does not belong in Rockwood Village.
If you would like access to the presentations you need to be a member of the Association - send us an email to forestparktenantsassociation@gmail.com
